The Back Room

With respect to Socrates, my unexamined life is not worth living. The front room is the face we show everyone but we hide our true self in the back room.

Feelings and passion unstifled by society’s standards definitely appeal to me.  I enjoy speaking intelligently about topics that interest me.  Often when I am around straight men and I get excited about such topics, I can see there are not quite “there” with me.  Some have told me to “calm down” or “lower my voice”, as if I were making a spectacle, thus embarrassing them.  I mean, c’mon, I just wanted to talk about Burn Notice

Maybe I should have a warning sign on my chest before starting or joining a conversation: If you are interested in listening to me, because you care about me, then this is what I am like when I talk about things that stimulate me.  You can always walk away.

This is one of the many reasons I consider myself a private person.
